Environment
- Knox Configure (KC)
- Android 10
Overview
Some Android 10 devices are not automatically connecting to Wi-Fi after enrolling into a KC profile with Wi-Fi settings configured.
Cause
Starting with Android 10 devices, Wi-Fi settings now have one of two MAC address types, “Randomized MAC” and “Phone MAC”.
Currently, KC selects the “Randomized MAC” type by default with no option to switch types.
If your Wi-Fi specifications require the “Phone MAC” type, your device cannot automatically connect to Wi-Fi even after the KC profile is configured.
Resolution
The KC team is working to implement a feature allowing KC admins to select which MAC address type to use.
Workaround
Once the device is configured in the KC profile, follow the below steps:
- On your Android 10 device, go to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
- Select a Wi-Fi network to connect to.
- Change the MAC address type to the correct type for your Wi-Fi network.
